Mayor Bryant called the meeting to order at 6:46 p.m.
1. CIVIX PROJECT
Attorney Barnebey explained that the reason the Board did not have any updated information on this item is due to the fact that he did not receive any agreement until 3:00 p.m. today. He is still working on it with the applicant’s attorney; however, he is not pleased with Section 2.
Mr. Burton stated that the final agreement is being negotiated between the City Attorney and the attorney for the project and that is why it has not been distributed to the Board.
Mr. Barnebey told the Board that this is a total change from the prior agreement to the one that he is reviewing. He is not going to prepare it in a redline format due to the abundance of changes overall. It will now be more similar to the agreement that was approved for the Civic Center Hotel.
Rod Connelly, applicant, discussed the plans for the property and the time constraints for the approval of the agreement.
Attorney Barnebey discussed signalization at the intersection of Canal Road and U.S. 301 and improvements that need to be made if/when this hotel is built. He discussed contingency being placed in the agreement.
The Board could not make any decision on this item due to having nothing to review. Because of this, the Board set up a special meeting for August 21, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. in these Chambers.
Mayor Bryant adjourned the meeting at 7:21 p.m.
Minutes approved: September 9, 2019
